Happy Mabon!!

I am quite excited for today is Mabon one of my favorite sabbats. Why? Well as the 'pagan thanksgiving' that means lots of food and pigging out as well as my favorite time of year. I love to beatiful fall colors the changing of the leaves and the crisp magickal air that surrounds me. I am posting a giving thanks spell for the day from http://www.llewellyn.com/spell.php

Mabon Spell of Gratitude

Mabon - Fall Equinox

Color of the day: Brown
Incense of the day: Lilac

Mabon, the Witches’ version of Thanksgiving, is the second of the three
harvest sabbats and a time to reflect on what blessings we’ve received.
It’s probably instinct to always want more in our lives: more money,
more love, more friends, a better job, a fitter body, a house in the
country. We rarely rest having realized one goal before we eagerly
pursue the next. This striving makes for a full and rich life, but for
real happiness, we must practice the art of gratitude. As Lao Tzu said:

"Be content with what you have;
Rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
The whole world belongs to you."

Begin this on Mabon and continue a practice of gratitude throughout the
year. Every morning, light a stick of incense on your altar and take a
few minutes to thank the Spirit for the multitude of blessings you enjoy
each day.

It is finally beginning to feel like fall. I love the changing of the seasons. The crisp air, the colors of the leaves and the warms clothes. I like getting to drink hot cocoa and cider. The comming of fall makes me happy.

Sew Be It

/I have been soo busy I have gotten behind looking at my e-mails. The below is one that I got from one of my yahoo groups I belong to and I know I have a follower who will find it interesting.

Sew Be It

September 10
Friday

Ramadan ends

Color of the day: Pink
Incense of the day: Mint

Today is the anniversary of the 1846 patent on the sewing machine and is
celebrated as Sew Be It Day! Sacred to the goddess Athena, needle arts
are a way to do subtle and powerful magic. Even the simplest act of
repair can be strong magic. A basic basket of needles, pins, thread, and
scissors can be found in almost every household. To bless your sewing
tools, place them on your altar. Light a blue candle and use lavender
incense. Call in the blessings of each element to the tools, the basket,
and your sewing. Call in Athena and present your sewing tools to her for
blessing. Then say:

By spool and thread, my wishes are spread; with magic and pins, my magic
begins.
As I will it so mote it be with your blessings three times three.
Thank Athena and the elements.

Dark Moon

My alter is in my closet which is huge. I have my closet in the overhangs of my house which is also where my dogs kennel is. Keeping my alter there keeps it safe, out of the way and hidden since I am in the broom closet.

So, last night I preformed my first dark moon ritual. I have been reading 'in the shadow of the 13 moons' which is amazing and I used as a guideline. I kept it simple cast my circle, did some enegy work and spoke with the goddess telling her of my intent to begin working with the dark moon. During the ritual I began to smell something really bad kinda sulfery. I thought perhaps it was a sign of some sort and it seemed strongest from the west. After I ended my circle i entered my room to find that Nubbins, my familar/dog who thinks hes a cat, had diarrheaed all over my room WTF. So, I am toying with two ideas my life sucks and my dog is a pain in the ass OR the dark moon energy was way to intense for him and he couldnt handle it. He has circled with me before and loves my magickal stuff. Either way this sums up my life right now. Dog Shit. Agh I swear I was being good and made my self stick to my decison to do ritual last night rather then just go to bed and i get stinky piles of poo for my efforts.
Nubbins aka the shitter, that goddess hes cute or hed be in deep shit

Busy

So i have been crazy busy so i leave you today with a pretty picture and a recipe for fall tea which i got off of an e-mail list I am apart of. Also, I am having my first dark moon circle tonight which I am quite excited for more to follow....

To drink in the best aspects of autumn, combine the following:

1 T. cinnamon

1 tsp. clove

1 tsp. dill

1/2 tsp. basil

Peel from 1 orange finely diced

1 cup oolong tea

This tea needs a lot of room to steep so it’s best brewed loose in a mug

or in a large tea ball. Charge the mixture with the following blessing

nine times:

Here I command the warmth of all life; the light within me; the Sun’s

supreme might. Quicken the pulse, as the season is undone. Cradle the

sweet seeds of lust just begun. Foster our hopes as they stir in the

womb; harbor the breath of life, beneath earth’s silken tomb. Awaken

within me the embers of might; the pulsing beacon of will and of sight.

For here I imbue the glimmering fragments of fate, which expand to

eternity and guide me through the gate.

Mabon

Yesterday it was cold and rainy here in Montana so I pulled out the old sewing machine and cranked her up. I happen to have an addiction to fabric. Like I have boxes of the stuff  but never make anything and as I dont have but one or two alter cloths I decided to get mine for Mabon done which i posted a pic of above tho not the best photo as it was taken with my cell phone. This will be my first time celebrating Mabon but as fall is one of my favorite times of year I think this may be one of my favorite Sabbats. But for now I am just celebrating the fact that I got my alter cloth made!
